Septima Clark Book Talk - Ready From Within by Cynthia Stokes Brown

In this Book Talk I share my perspectives on the reading of “Ready From Within: Septima Clark and the Civil Rights Movement” by Cynthia Stokes Brown (with Septima Clark). I love this book and argue that Septima Clark may be the United States’ Paulo Freire and suggest that educators and teacher education programs read and study Septima Clark’s philosophy, strategy, and pedagogies for teaching, learning, and organizing for change. I also connect her work in the early and mid 1900s to the work of contemporary activist/organizer/writer adrienne maree brown. Join me for a fun walk and talk!
